Jockstrap Fan
I've been wearing a jockstrap or cup/supporter for sports and anything athletic for probably 25 years. Started out with a cup and supporter for little league when I was about 8 or 9, through high school football and lacrosse, all the way through to today for men's league lacrosse. For the gym, running, sports that don't require a cup, I always wear a traditional wideband jockstrap.
That includes golf. I always wear a jockstrap when I golf. With compression shorts, I'm constantly peeling my junk off my thigh as I'm walking down the fairway. Even regular boxer briefs can start to chafe. Plus, I sweat a ton and a jockstrap is so much more breathable and comfortable during hot summer rounds.
Anyway, I just got back from a golf/Masters trip with my buddies. Unfortunately I forgot to bring a jockstrap, so I had to play in my regular underwear. I played AWFUL. Literally the worst golf I've played in years and years. It was honestly hard to understand, as if I'd just forgotten how to swing a club. I've been thinking...maybe it was the fact that I wasn't wearing my jockstrap! I know for lacrosse, I don't play as well when I'm not wearing my cup because I feel vulnerable and end up not playing aggressive. But, I didn't figure it would affect my golf game the same way. But maybe it did!
What do you guys think? Does anyone have a similar story of performing poorly in their sport when not wearing a jockstrap or cup? Even if it's a stretch, I'm still going to blame it on the lack of a jock because mentally it's better than just blaming it on yourself, haha.
